When the past reaches out, you can’t just ignore it.
Still recovering from injuries she received several months earlier, Liv Fisher is hoping for a quiet life. But that vain hope doesn’t last beyond her early morning walk, when she stumbles upon someone in trouble.
Her decision to intervene leads her to uncover the abduction of several local girls. It also drags her back to the seedy world of corruption and murder, she thought she had left behind. When several figures from her dark past return to open up old wounds, Liv suspects that one of them may be involved in the abductions. If he is, she fears the girls may never be found. But Liv has another, much more personal, reason for pursuing him.
She could really do with the help of her investigator friend, Graham. Actually, he’s more or less her only friend, but it seems that he too has disappeared. In the end, Liv receives support from several other, very unlikely people, one of whom reveals to her an astonishing family secret.
Though her investigation takes Liv to places she definitely doesn’t want to go, she is not prepared to abandon either the missing girls, or Graham, without a fight.
Sharp-eyed, razor-tongued and habitually untrusting, Liv resolves to find those who are missing — whatever the cost.
